Default Amp meter + shunt installation problem

I fitted the Amp meter & shunt exactly as shown on the directions,
however even with no wires connected to the outlet side of the shunt
the I get a -10.5 amp discharge showing. With the alternator charging
nothing changes, and an 8w 12v fluorescent shos an additional 10 amp
discharge.

The instructions did not show a direction to fit the shunt so I assume
it is bi-directional.

Anyone got any ideas on what's going on?

Thanks

Biggles

Hi,

Try powering the amp meter from a separate battery, see if it works OK
then.

cheers,
Pete.
