Default Help - Water filter

Hi,

Having had to crawl around under the tug deck to identify the source of
a water leak I discovered I've got a water filter! It's a clear plastic
circular thing with a cartridge that is full of what looks like
activated charcoal. The filter housing was full of rusty coloured water
so I guess the filter has not been changed for some time and I'd like
to change it. The problem is I can't find a manufacturers name anywhere
and a search on the internet hasn't helped. The clear plastic thing is
about ten inches long and five inches in diameter and the filter
cartridge is 7 inches long and 3 inches in diameter. The boat was built
in 1992 so I'm guessing the filter is from this time also. I didn't
have my camera with me so no photo at the moment.

Thanx

Stewart

Thanks Trevor but I still can't identify it from these sites. I will
give them a ring when I get back from a short trip.

I agree.

Cleaning out the water tank is my job for this autumn, when I can get
the many screws on the lid to move.

This one was full of brown water but we don't actually drink anything
that goes through the ordinary taps. We have a second filter which is
under the kitchen sink and feeds a separate tap that we use for water
for the kettle and cooking and we change the cartridge in there
regularly.

I'm probably going to run without the filter cartridge in the chamber
and maybe fit an inline solids filter in a more accessible place.
