As Roland mentioned in his post, Trailfinders are useful for benchmarking.
I've never used them because I've always found cheaper prices elsewhere.

I have often found that the cheapest flights USA-UK over the Xmas period
are leaving on the 31st (arrive on the 1st). Inside the USA I expect
there's a lot less demand to fly *on* Thanksgiving Day, rather than the
day before and the day after.
There's also a noticeable both daily and weekly "tidal flow" on my
flights from EMA to AMS.
