Default Every time I fly, I learn something new...

.... and on my most recent flight (Exeter to Edinburgh, on Flybe) I
discovered that shoe polish is a liquid! At least, it is classified
as being liquid for security purposes.

So does that mean they confiscated your shoes - since they would've
been covered with the stuff?
Or is it OK to "smuggle" it through the gate in plain sight.

Nice one!

No, I was carrying two tines of shoe polish, and I had to put them in
the little plastic bag with my toothpaste.

Next time I shall clean my shoes before travelling!
