Nevertheless, this route (London-Cape Town) is well known to be very
heavily booked. Sometimes it just isn't possible to get the combination
of route, date, and seat that you want, when using Frequent Flyer miles.
In the past (and on other carriers' FF plans) I have had to take my
second choice, often an indirect flight.
It's almost as if they need a better way to "price" different routes, in
a more sophisticated way than just flat-rate or distance-based; so the
FF point collectors can have a better idea of where their points might
be useful (and be able to make decisions about redeeming more if they
want to). So, if it turns out that people pay about twice the price for
London Cape Town regular fare (compared to other routes of the same
distance) would it be fair if it cost twice the number of FF points -
especially if that meant you could fly there at all?
