Default Ryanair advice

My wife and I have booked a return from LPL to CIA this weekend. My
wife now can't make the outward leg and has booked an alternative but
I still intend to travel as planned. We want to come back together on
the original booking. Will Ryanair want to cancel the return leg
because part of the outward leg was not used? I have not been able to
get through to their enquiry line yet. Can I sort this out at check in
or should I speak to them in advance.

No, the two legs are unconnected and Ryanair will not
cancel the return if you don't go on the outbound.

I was able to come back on the second leg of my original Ryanair
booking, after going out earlier than originally planned. It would
be good insurance to check with them that their policy on this has
not been "updated"

Default Ryanair advice

Update on Ryanair advice:

I was able to use both return bookings without a problem. A couple of
points though:

1) I carried a large suitcase with clothes etc for two. This took me
over the luggage allowance. If my wife had travelled we could have
pooled our allowance but because she wasn't travelling, although I paid
for two tickets, they insisted on charging me 18 GBP excess.

2) She travelled on the evening Ryanair flight from EMA on the same day
for 14 GBP inc.! It was cheaper to get her to Rome than it was her
clothes.

3) Although I resented Ryanair pocketing the tax on the unused booking
and surcharging the luggage, the reality is that if I had tried to do
the same on BA etc they would have cancelled the return leg of an
unused outward and charged me a fortune for a single.

FR do not officially allow pooling of allowance. Each bag is
weighed and can be excessed separately.

Often the check-in staff let you get away with it, but more
than once I have stood in line watching a family group
re-arrange the contents of their luggage.

The issue here is whether or not someone who has paid for a ticket can
have their luggage travel, but not themselves. Maybe someone should sell
blow-up dolls (with suitable ID) who can occupy the seat and accompany
their bag in the hold.
