Probably not. Flights usually go up in price closer to departure date.

The fact that the other website said the original flight was no longer
available may have occurred because they simply were no longer selling
tickets for it (either too close to departure date or perhaps they only had
a certain amount of flights to sell)

You should learn your lesson that when you find a flight you want there's no
point in waiting until it's no longer available then inventing conspiracy
theories.

Happened to me once going to New York. Gained a connection on Heathrow,
9hrs travel and one Hundred Euros.

Only problem was I had to wait two days for my Credit Card to clear
before I could pay for it.

I couldn't afford the cheaper first offer.
