Default Delay question

Hello all,

On 20th July we arrived at Manchester at 08:00 for a 10:00 flight to be told
it wouldn't leave until 14:00. We were immediately given food vouchers and
handed a letter by the handling agent explaining it was due to operational
reasons and not weather or anything.

Can we do anything with the letter? I mean, 4 hours isn't much of a delay
but with the new EU rules etc. I have become a bit lost since I don't fly
quite as much as I used to.

Should we speak to our travel insurer or somebody else and can we expect
anything to come of doing so?

TIA

For a 4 hour delay you are entitled to food.

For a 5 hour delay on the outbound you are entitled to cancel
and have your money back, even if you have complete part of
the journey

Insurance usually gives you 25 quid for a delay of n hours.
Is it worth the aggro in claiming (even if n is less an 4)?

I'm not really fussed. We did get there, not too late, and had a good
journey otherwise, but it was long haul and the EU legislation about delays
does pay more for longhaul but I don't know for how long you should be
delayed.

Thanks
