| | Guest | Travelling by air Feel a bit worried about travelling to certain countries since the case of
Miss Corby in whose luggage drugs were found. She of course denies anything
to do with it, and I believe her. It would be a horrible shock to be told
there were drugs in your case!!

Morphine is doubtless "illegal" too - but I'm sure they use it in
hospitals.
What's important here is to distinguish between prescription drugs and
recreational usage. Of course, there are also over-the-counter items
available in the USA that need a prescription here (and so on).
The most disturbing side of this latest case is that the lady apparently
didn't take and of the drugs with here - the test results coming from
prescribed painkillers she'd taken a few days before, prior to leaving
the UK.

Does anybody have any opinion/theory as to what could have been wrong with
the ladies passport? As this is supposedly why she was stopped leaving the
country.

I think I read a report that said it was out of date (a simple mistake).
I any event, she has apparently been a frequent visitor there over
several years. Some people think that alone is evidence of some hidden
issue.

There was an item on GMTV last week and they actually said it was something
to do with her leaving the country earlier than the date on her visa, which
seemed very strange as I'm sure "normal" UK visitors don't need actual visas
to Dubai. Our passports just have "Valid 60 day" stamped in them, on
arrival at the airport . The expert from the Holiday industry didn't query
the visa suggestion. Every other report I've read has said it was a passport
problem.

The impression I got was that she was a regular visitor intending to
work, not a tourist.

| | Guest | Travelling by air The Indonesian court will give their verdict on the case of Miss Corby this
week - they found the drug ( Indian hemp, I think) in her surf board bag
which did not have a lock on it - so anyone ( such as baggage handlers)
could have put it there, intending to take it out later. I bet the poor
girl wishes she did not pick Bali for a holiday.

This is very worrying.. Only recently I took a Gulf Air flight transiting in
Abu Dhabi, and after having some particularly painful dental treatment had
been taking Codeine for 3 days. I actually had a few pills with me (with
prescription) incase my tooth flared up again.
I always thought if ou carried the script, or a letter from your docotr you
were ok | |
