You can have 20 kg free, the rest you have to pay for. However, If two
people are travelling, you can have 40 kg between you, a condition being
that no one bag can be heavier than 32 kg. This is probably out of concern
for the baggage handlers.

The 32kg is a restriction introduced by BAA within the last year,
although some airlines may have had their own "private" restrictions
before that.
