Default Gatwick BA early morning Check in

Will be arriving at Gatwick 2am. I understand we will be able to use the
self service BA check in. ( as our tix purchased through deckchair have a
magnetic strip). Will we be able to check our bag though at this time? We'd
like to get airside asap so we can get some sleep before our flight to
Madrid- as it doesn't leave til 0855.

TIA

Jan

Last time I had an early morning flight from Gatwick with BA, the
check-in desk wasn't open when I got to the airport. I think you need to
make sure in advance that you can both check-in and stay overnight
airside.

If not, there are some very nice long padded benches Landside at Gatwick.
Best airport kipping benches in the world. Although by 2am I reckon most
people would have staked a claim.

After having a good poke around the BA web site. It appeared we would be
able to use the self service check in,Though I still couldn't find ref to
the bag drop times.
So I emailed BA about this. Their reply was that the self service check ins
open the same time as the manned desks.
Which is not what the web site implies. :-( - of course it doesn't say it
"will" be open. iyswim

I see their first flight of the day leaves at 6am. So hopefully they might
let us check in when that one opens.

And BA allow checkin the night before (after 6pm I think), assuming you can
get you overnight requirements into their measly hand luggage allowance.
