Long vs Short Haul

Is there a definition anywhere of the difference between the two ?
And does it mean anything anyway ?

(I've got a 5.5 hours London to Egypt coming up).

Some airlines don't regard MEL/SYD-SIN/KUL/BKK as long haul.

Not on AA. I flew back from LAX this week and it was $5 if you wanted a
beer or wine. I believe CO is the same? Not sure about Delta? But they
are all going this way.
