The term *Esq* or even Esquire for the few who demand it , used to
mean that you had a house you owned and it was on land you owned, no
matter how small- you were a land owner, which is most of the
populace nowadays, but in those days most rented property.
I had a client who demanded to have all mail addressed
Wing Commander. etc MBE, CC, JP and had to be addressed
Wing Commander - it was found out he did nothing more in the war than
run the air cadets! |
