Nope - absolutely and totally unnecessary. If any screener believes a
doctors note and does give the full treatment he/she deserves to be shot
(slowly). | |

You get exactly the same if you just tell them where and what the metal is -
it gets wanded and felt quickly, and then you get wanded or felt all over
depending on which side of the pond you are on.
A note from your doctor would be totally meaningless, and should be ignored,
as it is so easy to forge.
It's when you don't tell them, it causes issues :-) | |

HE DOESN'T!
Please TRY to follow what's being written!

HE DISAGREES!

Look, YOUR experience may be different. But the FACT is that my
colleague disagrees, and absolutely travels more than you in the USA.
Deal with it.

But if he travels with the note how would he know how smooth it would be
without it ??? (I suspect it would save some time as the TSA guy wouldn't
have to read the note).

Disagrees that the TSA should ignore it or that it is easy to forge ?

I have absolutely no idea how much your collegue travels within the USA or
outside it, but Arwel mentioned nothing in the original post about the USA,
I assume he was asking about travelling by air generally, there are other
countries in this world !!!
Maybe you could ask him how often he travels without the note but by gives a
brief explanation and what the differences are.

Are you like this in RL ?

But, before we go any further is this a 50 post argument or a 100 post
argument ? | |

Your colleague is travelling in the US with a US Doctor's note.
The OP is in the UK and would have a UK Docotor's note.
MY experience of travelling with a UK Doctor's note in the US, is that
the TSA could not care a damn and don't even want to see it if offered
[probably as some don't even appear to speak, let alone be able to read
English]. Totally meaningless to them, it could be anything. Even though
everyone says get a Doctor's note, it's a waste of time and cost £5 to
obtain.
