| | Guest | Exposure Compensation If I have a set shuuter speed (ie sync at 1/125 sec) and the correct
aperature reads say F9 .
But I need a lower F stop to limit depth of field.
Will minus 3 stops of exposure control alow this and give me a 3 stop larger
aperature?
Also what would my F stop be here?
Are there any drawback to use exposure compensation. ( ie noise etc.).

Yes - that is what "stop" means -
> Also what would my F stop be here?
I'm not sure, but you can just use either aperture or shutter priority AE
mode and run the other up or down and find out. If you are in shutter
priority mode, then increase shutter speed until you get the f-stop you
desire. If you go aperture priority, just set the aperture you desire, and
if there is enough range, the shutter speed will match.
> Are there any drawback to use exposure compensation. ( ie noise etc.).
You aren't talking about exposure compensation; you are just setting normal
exposure. There is no drawback to any set or range of exposure combinations.
Just the effects of high vs low aperture and high vs low shutter speed.

| | Guest | Compensation for beeing kicked off from an aircraft It happened to me a few days ago. I was in the group with 100 other football
fans traveling to a football match with well known European low-fares
airline. I will deliberately not state the airline or the airport, but
everything else described below is true.
We all know how joyful football fans can be, but this time the story is
completely different and I belive that an airline screw it up big time. We
arrived at the airport and checked-in completely normally. Police and
security officers at the airport didn't even realize that there was a group
of 100 football supporters in the airport. After checking-in and a security
check (completely normal) we boarded the aircraft. There was no singing, no
shouting, no loud talking. Neither on the airplane, neither earlier at the
airport. We and other passengers were all seated and calm, there was no
alcohol onboard (maybe only few people with one beer can each), there was no
touching of cabin crew, no disorder whatsoever. Cabin crew counted
passengers for numerous times and it seemed like there is something wrong
with the number of passengers. At least 20 times they counted all
passengers. After a while a captain of the plane contacted one of our fans,
saying that he knows that we are football supporters and asked for peace
during a flight. He also asked that fan to make an announcement in our
language and explain that there is no alcohol allowed onboard. After that
announcement, three of our guys handed over their beer cans to cabin crew,
others were not drinking any alcohol or non-alcohol drinks. We remained
completely calm, until after some 15 minutes (we already had some 25 minutes
delay) cabin crew finally prepared for demonstration of emergency
procedures. They didn't preformed it, but instead captain asked everybody to
disembark the aircraft. Outside he explained that some of football
supporters misbehaved and that few of them will not be able to continue the
journey. He didn't specified what exactly that misbehavior was, but he
stated that cabin crew reported him that only three beer cans were handed
over and that there was a emergency demo-kit (life-vest and a mask that
flight attendants use for demonstration) thrown from seat to the floor.
Since aircraft was full (no empty seats), that might be true, but I can't
say that, because I didn't saw it. One flight attendant also claimed that
one piece of her demo kit is missing and that she saw people pulling
life-vests from beneath the seat. Captain and flight attendant refused to
finger at a person(s) that supposedly have done that and demanded, that
those persons volunteer themselves in a next minute or whole group will be
rejected. Since nobody volunteered, plane departed without us.
Of course, we missed our match and since really completely nothing was wrong
with behavior of the passengers onboard (not football fans, not any other),
we belive that we are entitled to a compensation. We haven't yet contacted
the airline, because we first want to know how big compensation should we
look for.
Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

The captain can throw off whoever he wants, you are entitled to no
compensation at all, | |

That can't be true. If you challenge his decision, he (the airline) will
have to prove in court that it was dangerous to let you stay on the plane.

Under airlaw, the captain CAN throw anyone off
without any explanation, thus far you are right.
However under commercial right, if once there
is a valid contract between airline and pax
than then pax have a right to be transported.
So, some kind of recompensation seems due.
