Fiji beach bure type vacation closer to the United States?

My wife and I had our honeymoon on Castaway Island Fiji and we really
enjoyed it. We would love to go back but we now live in the southeast
United States and have children that we need to purchase airline
tickets for. To get from here to Fiji per person is around $1500. Are
there any small (less than 100 bures / cottages) resorts in the
Caribbean / Atlantic or generally closer than Fiji in terms of air cost
hopefully for less than $1000 per person from the southeast, that have
a similar feel to the South Pacific, being family friendly, beach
front, small island?

I suggest Mustique or some of the outer Bahama Islands. Many Cayman Islands
or Grenadines, too.
