Default Question about Journal Square Neighborhood

Hi, I am going to start my job in mid-town Manhattan and considering
living in Journal Square in Jersey City because of the lower rent.

But I have heard of some bad saying about crimes and neighborhood of
Jersey City, so I am wondering if Journal Square is part of the bad
neighborhood.

I understand that Jersey City is large and the neighborhood is better
for the areas close to the Hudson River. But can anyone tell me that
what's the safe neighborhood and what's the neighborhood to avoid in
Jersey City? Your help/information is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Ed

But will bus still be the best option once Hudson Bergen Light Rail opens as
far as Weehawken? Or will it be better to get HBLR and then PATH (or
perhaps a ferry) to reach Manhattan?

BTW, when is this section of HBLR due to open (can't be far off now)?

Default Question about Journal Square Neighborhood

Is there a map of Jersey Transit buses anywhere? I find schedules, but
if you don't know where they run, the timetables are of limited
usefulness ...

You said you're "a few hundred yards" from me. I'm in Spuyten Duyvil,
which is nowhere near the East River, but is the southern portion of
Riverdale, directly opposite the northern tip of Manhattan.

I know where Kennedy is, but not where Montgomery is.

Something's missing from that paragraph!

But not "a few hundred yards" from the middle of it.

No, I don't. I won't be there for another month.

If you are somewhere south of JSQ, you are not "a few hundred yards"
from my house in the Heights.

I dont live in New Jersey, but I have been in areas around there a few
times, and I found that Journal Square is not such a great
neighborhood, but an area near by, around the Grove Street PATH
station is much nicer.
However, you might still want to check because I'm just writing this
based on personal experience
