Just press "Park". The batteries will still be functioning until you
press "Power" to turn it off.

When I use my car vacuum, that runs off of the battery, the car has to
be on. Nothing works unless it is.

Sorry, I don't understand this question.

Well, just press P, and the engine will stop by itself anytime soon
if not already.
Then finish your CD track quietly.

N-position, while still powered. (as powering off turn to P
automatically).
If you mean to have a real free wheels mode, such as being able to
close the car (powered-off) and push it by hand, sorry, it's an
automatic gear, always on charge from wheels to engines (well, the
opposite... you get it :-).
To tow it, the front wheels must be off the ground... you have full
mechanical control of the breaks on the rear wheel near the
conductor door on the left!

Just put it into park. There's no reason not to be in ready mode.

Others have answered this.

I take it that you wish to manually push the Prius around in the level
garage without the engine starting? If so, do this:

1 Without pressing the brake pedal, press Power twice to get IGN-ON.

2 Press the brake pedal and hold gear lever in Neutral for 2 seconds.

....it works!
....only of course it must left ign-on so it can not stay for a long time that way.
