I didn't see where it said it will be in the U.S. anywhere...? It looks
to be between the corolla and camry sizewise. That would be something
I'd have interest in. The new camry is too big and the corolla is almost
big enough...
At the moment Avensis is sold only in Europe and some Asian and African
countries. But as there have been rumours on bringing Ford Mondeo to
U.S. market as well, maybe same would happen with Avensis some time.
Actually here in Europe, Camry hasn't been sold since 2004. Apparently
there weren't enough buyers here, or maybe it's like a car salesman
explained to my mom two years ago, that "Americans hog all Camrys Toyota
makes, so there aren't them left for European market"
Traditionally three car models from Toyota have been in European market:
Corolla, Carina / Corona (predecessor of Avensis -- around 1998 along
new model, name was changed to Avensis) and Camry. As told before, Camry
isn't solde here anymore, but nowadays there are also Yaris and Aygo
(which is almost identical with Citroen C1 and Peugeot 107 that come
from the same factory). So it looks like we're going towards smaller
cars.
A funny thing is that sometimes here in Finland new Camrys can be seen,
but they all have Russian license plates on them. Makes me wonder where
the world is going -- maybe one day all BMW's, Mercedes and such will go
to Russia, and people in Western countries will drive small and cheap
cars, possibly made by Lada...
