someone there is claiming to be able to enable non-DRL vehicles to have

Matrix. It was easy, there are several methods that work. | |

Our 05 Avalon has 4 positions on the light switch
DRL off
off (DRL's on)
Auto
On
I am now wondering if this great state of Confusion (California) will
recognize DRL's as being headlights that we are required to have on if
you have wipers on, regardless of visibility.
Just another great law (headlights/wipers on together) to save
somebody?

| | Guest | Daytime Runnig LIghts. That is questionable. Tests by the engineering department of two
universities in the US says otherwise. The results of those studies shows
DRLs can cause as many accidents as they may prevent. That was the main
reason they were not made mandatory in the US by the Congress several years
ago when GM made that request.

I've been in a couple of situations where if I did not have the DRL the
driver may not have seen me for a brief second. This is subjective.
Just my observation of the moment.

My 04 Sienna LE came without DRLs enabled, but I found out how to do it
and I now have DRL. It was a simple job, just place a dummy fuse in the
DRL spot on the fuse block. I sued a 5 amp fuse.

Dbu was the only one that read my OP I think.
I was asking about ENABLING them not disabling them. I thought that
because I WASN'T talking about DIS-abling, it would not end up like the
last time...8>)
I like DRL's but I find when it rains hard and I forget that my rear
lights aren't on I can be putting myself at risk of being rear ended by
something big....And really a large part of putting your lights on when
it rains is to be seen from the rear (and all angles) , especially on
the interstate.
I think it is interesting that Toyo would charge you (how much?) for
DRL's and all you have to do is add a fuse to get 'em for free?
I like that part. Is that the case on all model newer toyotas?

CP...it's possible that your error in your instruction has caused
the confusion...you said:
>It was a simple job, just place a dummy fuse in the
>DRL spot on the fuse block. I sued a 5 amp fuse.
Then you made another error when someone could have gotten a
reinforcing clue later in the sentence...anyway...
