I had to fiil mine to overflow to get it to shut off, also a bad bulb
or coroded electric contact with moisture at a light. But if brakes
dont seem 100% it could be the master cilinder. Id check all brake
lights when it goes on, and fill it up, then worry.

Don't worry about it. Just drive the car and see what happens eventually.

Think worst case scenario.

Joe knows even less about cars than BHO knows about being president...

There's an electrical connector at the master cylinder.
Just a guess, but if it were me, I'd be removing the connector,
cleaning with electrical contact spray, reattaching, and checking for
any change.
That and the parking brake should be the only sources to activate
apart from the low brake fluid level.
If the parking brake switch, and electrical contacts are good I'd be
looking for the sending unit inside the master cylinder.

Default brake light

You need to check the operation of the fluid level switch. It may have
gone bad. You should also check the parking brake switch. I think
these two turn on the same bulb. A repair manual from local parts
store can tell you exact how.
