Default Back-up Light / Gear Indicator

Hi A tough one for anyone who might be able to help. The problem: No
back-up lights when in reverse. Fuse checked. Bulbs checked.
Additional strange info and associated problem: With any exterior
driving lights selected, regardless of gear, the "R" reverse indicator
lights up as well as the selected gear. With all exterior lights off,
gear indicator works normally. Back-up lights do not work in this
scenario either. Car starts and runs fine. Additional info: Turn
knob / Light control assembly was recently changed with no correction.
Also, Neutral Safety Switch also replaced without affect. I'd go with
the back-up switch next, but the gear indicator problem throws me off
the scent. What does anyone think? I appreciate your help.
Paul

Automatic transmission? What year? Most likely the backup switch is
integrated with the Neutral Safety Switch.

Time to check the Neutral Safety Switch. See Autozone's free repair
guide.
