| | Guest | Driving in California: OBD2 error, taking forever to clear computer memory 60K mile on the 2000, V6 Camry, had a P0402 error - EGR flow excessive. Turn
out the EGR valve position sensor gave up. Replace with new and reset the
OBD2 scanner. Check engine light went away on Camry and OBD2 error code went
away but the yellow LED light on the scanner came up. The OBD2 tech support
guy said take up to a month for the car computer to clear out the OBD2
monitors, I have 5 that has not been run and need to clear out 3 before I
could take the smog test. Anyway to speed up the clearing process so wife
could get the smog test and not get a ticket for expired tag? DMV fee has
already been paid. | |

| | Guest | Driving in California: OBD2 error, taking forever to clearcomputer memory It's more about completing the runs than clearing the monitors. Most
monitors have to be complete before you can be certified.
When they pressed "clear" on the scanner, doesn't it clear all codes
and monitor status? My scanner does. Or you can pull the EFI (5A) fuse
for 1 minute. Take it to Autozone and have them do it/check it.
It can take a while to meet the conditions to run the monitors. But a
combo of highway and local should help speed it up.

| | Guest | Driving in California: OBD2 error, taking forever to clearcomputer memory I'm sure some cars behave differently. But some of those monitors are
almost instant-on after clearing. I don't think that's much of an
issue, but for inspections most should be complete.
Yeah I know what you mean, some techs do charge a lot for very simple
things. Especially when places like Autozone do it for free.
