Anything that makes you calm and relaxed will lower your blood pressure.
Tea makes _me_ calm and relaxed.

Odds are what you have is a typical low-grade gunpowder green. Try looking
for Temple of Heaven brand at your local Chinese market, and tell me if it
is not basically the same thing.
