Probably unlikely that the OP is flying part 135. However, if he is he
also has weather reporting requirements.

True. I actually wasn't expecting to find anything in the FARs on landing
restrictions since I'd done a previous scan and came up with nothing. The
135.229(a) is a bit of a stretch anyway - just thought I'd mention it.

Everything you said about local jurisdiction is correct. I seem to recall
that there may also be Federal laws or non-FAA regulations relating to
landing restrictions on certain Federal lands and property.
