Gene Whitt pirep

We just got back from a visit with Gene and Gloria. Gene's doing much
better than he was even a couple of weeks ago. He still has the
walkerh handy, but he's now using a cane.

We walked down to the local Chinese food place for dinner while Lonny
and Gloria drove. It's not usually far enough to drive, but Gloria
knew Gene would be tired after the walk (which was a Good Call).

This is slow, but amazing progress. Last time we saw him was just after
he got home and he could barely go once around his driveway with the
walker. There was a point in the hospital where even sitting up was
a challenge.

The owners of the restaurant were really pleased to see Gene. He
and Gloria have been regulars there for years.

Gene's sense of humor is intact. On the way out of the restaurant, he
hobbles past a table with a young couple on a date. Gene says to the
boy, "take care of your girlfriend or she'll cripple you".

His memory is definitely getting better too.

Hopefully we'll be able to take him flying soon.

As someone lurking here from time to time, and who benefited from and
Gene's website, I wish him more good recovery.

Gene,

If you added anything to the above post, I couldn't see it. Maybe AT&T is
stripping it.

In any event, it's good to see you posting again. I recently start
instrument ground school, and have been using and abusing your
material.
