Default Coordinated?

Straight and level, unaccelerated. Then you bank shallow to one side
and hold the heading with opposite rudder while holding altitude. Is
this coordinated? Ball is completely out to one side and pitch
adjusted to hold altitude.
Any takers? Kind of sounds like the manuever someone just posted a
short time back for cross wind practice?.

Is that a question? Of course its uncoordinated but its a healthy kind
of deliberate uncoordination compared to the case that can happen on
the base to final turn where uncoordination can be fatal.

I would say it was coordinated by the definition that I use , which is that
the aircraft is pointed in the direction of motion.

on second thoughts, you must actually be moving sideways towards the
direction of bank, so you are not in fact moving in the direction of motion.
Geez this is an interesting question. Makes me question just what straight
and level really means. Does straight just mean that your heading is not
changing or does it mean that in the absence of wind if you are at point A
pointing towards point B you will actually get there ( which would mean you
are pointing in the direction of motion and hence coordiated). Does level
just mean constant altitude or wings parallel to the ground. I have confused
myself now.

I did run into a guy from the FAA who wanted to reclassify a forward slip as
an aerobatic maneuver!
