When relatively close to the transmitter (say 2-3 miles from the runway
- the approach course width depends on the installation) the LOC is
actually more precise than GPS.

Default GPS Approaches Vs. Non-precision approaches

Why is Juneau AK NDB approach have lower minimums than it's LDA (offset
localizer) approach. They use the same approach path.
