Default DAEC Index - Help Needed

Hopefully someone from Germany can help out. I'm in the
midst of a discussion with someone about the handicap for the
SZD-55. The debate is on what reference weight is/was used for the
handicap. The table I see from the DAEC includes reference weights
for many ships, but not for the SZD-55. Can anyone tell me the
reference weight used to establish the handicap?

Danke,

Don't know if this will help, but in the US our handicap
uses manufactures empty weight + 250 pounds (200 for
pilot and chute & 50 for instruments, battery, o2,
etc.) We list the SZD-55-1 at 740 pounds, so the EW
would be 490.

Hey now! Don't go messing with the European handicap for the 55. It
ranks it the same as the much newer LS8 in the OLC at 1.08, something
we 55 owners are all proud of! Why pay all that extra money if you do
not have to?

Hi JJ,

Thanks. I'm assuming the Germans and Brits do the same, but I want
to get it (more or less) directly from the source.
