Default Backing up WinPilot

Is there a way to maintains two IPAQs to be identical with WinPilot? I
would like to set up a primary unit, with the second unit as a backup
in case the first one fails. I have found that just copying files does
not work. The settings files are not duplicated in this way. I have
two IPAQ 3950's.

Thanks,

Tim

p.s. an iPAQ Backup file created on one iPAQ cannot be used on another.

I don't know about Ipaqs but some some years I have
maintained 3 other pilots' Compaq 1550s (with GN11)
as mirror images of mine by using the backup/restore
facility. I backup my 1550 onto another unit's CF
card and then transfer that card to the other 1550
and use it to restore my system onto my friend's 1550.

Its a shame if you can't do the same using the SD card
in a 3950.

The folders and files stored on the CF card I just
have to do manually.

Use GPS_LOG. It has a backup applet.

Tim:

I have two 3635s and backing up one and restoring into the other works
without any problem. Both iPAQs run exactly the same OS version and
build.

I do not know if this woud work on a 3900 but I would try... what the
worst that can happen...

Regards
Enrique

Thanks for the feedback. I am getting a flash card to try the direct
backup, but is that fails I will work on just transferring the settings
files and see if I can get that to work. I just got these to replace
the 3700 series unit I used last year.
