Default Rolling Travel bag

Would anyone have suggestions for a gear bag with wheels, for
international travel for a couple of weeks and races? Will probably use
a sport tube for skis.

I've used both the sport tube and the rolling big bag by Fischer.

I prefer the softer Fischer bag.

The sport tube is clumsy and hard to stand up and handle on trains,
busses, etc. The soft sided, rolling Fischer bag worked very well, and
we even stuffed two of them in a small Skoda rental car in Prague last
year. We took one carry on piece of luggage to Europe and the rolling
bag. It is very large for skis and clothing.

Gregs point is well made. The Sportube is clumsy to handle and hard to
get into a rental car. It does offer serious protection however. I went
to the Sportube after NWA/KLM crushed 2 pairs of skis and two sets of
poles on a trip to Finland in 2002 but I'm not that happy with it for
the reasons he described. My traveling partners have never had skis or
poles broken using soft sided bags.

Greg, were you able to keep the soft sided bag under 50 lbs with all of
your boots, clothing etc. plus skis and poles? How many pairs of skis
did you include? Did you and Liz each carry one or did you share?

Thanks

John,
Liz and I both had one. And yes, it's the same one mentioned here from
Gear West.
I think that the bags weighed over 40lbs loaded, but not over 50.

Using a backpack as a carryon and pulling the ski bag with wheels would
be a pretty efficient way to move through airports, etc.

Wow, under 50 lbs with skis (3 pairs?), poles, clothes for a week or
two, boots, wax and tools, and no airline hassle about oversize with a
combined bag? New Moon has it for $119, Gear West as $140. Thanks for
the idea.
