Default Dive Accident Insurance

Hi Don,

I have friends who have DiveAssure (I will get mine soon too as I just
got certified, woohoo!). My friend's wife had an injury and was
hospitalized over 5 days. They used DiveAssure from the first moment
the accident happened - she was evacuated, hopitalized and they even
flew her mom over to accompany her through her hospital stay. They tell
everyone about DiveAssure and are very pleased with it. The insurance
and the assistance services are by AIG and they are huge. Good enough
for me anyway....

Thanks DiverK.

This is the info I seek. I actually just purchased their coverage. AIG
was a big factor, but the biggest was that their coverage is primary.
All the others popular, including DAN and PADI are secondary coverage.
I don't want to be injured halfway around the world and have them tell
me that I need to first submit my bills to my primary health insurance.

Many places will not take any insurance because it is difficult for them
to file and they have no way to verify your coverage. I won't be a
question of "which" it will be "no".

This is also a concern, but one less in my control as I make a decision
on which coverage to purchase.

One can only hope that the dive travel insurance company has ways to
deal with this issue and is willing to do so (wire transfer payments,
etc). This is one of the chief reasons I seek primary coverage as
opposed to secondary.
