| | Guest | TR; Morey's Coastin by the Ocean <short> We had an awesome time
one of the best times I had at any event.
they gave us so much.
Surprise ERT on the "extreme rides"
I eat so much
ERT with an Ocean view till 2am on Great White doesn't get any better
then that.
watching the MOON set on the Atlantic/Cape May area at 2am bright
orange from the lift hill was a sight to see.
If you didn't go you missed out on so much actually we had to much to
do in the 2 1/2 days i was there. we had very little sleep
I live an hour away and been going here since the 60's and was very
impressed with the Morey's operation.
Nothing Like WIldood anywhere in the world.
I brought 12 people and all could not stop thanking me and how much
fun they had and in turn I thanked Jack and Will Morey, Dino and
Angel and all the other employees (Many foreign European workers so
polite)
Can't wait till next year I just don't see how they can top this one.

Everyone Ive spoken with says that the GNE is amazing and rerideable
now.
Rumor has it, the new trains arent cheap either (heard it's about a
mill per train?). However, if Morey's can swing it, there's no reason
why the big chains cant redo their SLC's too.

One would think that an operation like Morey's had more incentive to
re-invest money into GNE for at least two reasons that aren't as
applicable for larger gated parks...
a)A large chunk of GNE's ridership comes after sundown by those
purchasing ride cards. The new trains have surely increased levels of
re-ridership. (are there any other SLCs that *aren't* in gated
parks?) The arguement against this theory is that both Paramount and
Six Flags did re-invest in their Premier Rides LIM coaster trains with
the lapbar modifications back in '01-'02, but I doubt the number was
even in this ballpark.
b)GNE continues to argueably be Morey's marquee coaster. Save for
maybe Elitch Gardens and Wild Adventures, is there another park (gated
or not) in North America that calls a Vekoma SLC its marquee coaster?

From what I was told, she came off sobbing "Why did it do that to
me?" | |

I'm probably not the best person to give his opinion since I loved the ride
before it got the new trains but the coaster is a lot more comfortable.
There are some transitions that will always throw you around but I can't see
anyone getting off the ride and claiming it's too rough to ride again.
I heard the total for the two new trains was $1 million, but I really don't
know what figures are accurate. Keep in mind that the retrofit included the
seats, restraints and the structure that attaches them to the chassi, which
I don't believe were replaced. That might have cut back on the cost.
Regardless, it was money well spent, primarily for the two reasons Mark
mentioned.

While the 2-pier coaster sounds cool, why not just build a good
coaster or 2 on Hunt's pier? The idea sounds prohibitively expensive
and complicated (a 'bridge' between the piers?)for a place with only 2
MAJOR coasters and a dwindling number of good flat rides...
...........unless they plan to do something with HP and the shamefully
defunct Golden Nugget.
