Did anyone watch Supercoasters tonight on National Geographic channel HD?
What did you think?

Unfortunately, it was a repeat from late 2006. It was pretty good though.
I was surprised it was a full 2 hours long and it was done in HD. I was
impressed with the details they went into however the pie-in-the-sky dreams
of a coaster with a 1000 foot drop and a Golden Gate coaster was a bit much.

Not that far-fetched. Stratosphere considered one, and gave up when they
couldn't get approval.

I just don't think that the ultimate rides they talked about near the end of
the show are really a necessity. They would be one trick ponies at best and
that's it, nothing more. Definitely not worth the huge investment someone
would have to pay. I do however believe they are possible to make with
today's technology and a good planning team but not really worth all the
effort. I still stay the ultimate thrill ride on the planet is a ride in a
highly modified aerobatic airplane. Like Air Combat USA or something like
that. The G's are supreme at +6 and -2 and the loops are not just measured
in hundreds of feet but in thousands! Once you try aerobatics, there's
nothing that remotely comes close, not even a rollercoaster. And the best
part is, no lines!
