Hee hee! Mike, at least you can keep the $$$ credited in your
Southwest account and travel at another time. While I was looking at
the construction photos of the coaster, I could almost hear the sounds
of the trains ripping around the track! This one just might be the
coaster of the year from the looks of it! I remember someone else
saying that Mystery Mine would be the coaster of the year but we'll
see what people think later on in the summer.

Still here. Used to post under nick rdreaming; now I check via google
every once and a while (see new nick).

Don't like moderated forums. Lazy me wishes more news was posted and
discussed here though.

Just an update on progress, the structure looks to be 80% - 90%
complete, A lot of track needs to be laid and then of course all the
electrical and hardware. Mid to end of July looks to be a best guess
around here but that is just a guess.

Lots of wet weather so far this summer and any more will delay it even
more. I would expect August to be a sure thing if your looking to
travel, BUT I would ask Moosh's opinion on making that kind of
commitment.

Kemah Boardwalk is a year round operation so there is no end of the
season.

So long as they're done by August 16 I'll be a happy camper ;-)

Thanks...

I haven't been to any of the high end independents outside of Charlies
in Orlando (which was pretty solid), and one of the ones on your list.

My current fave would be Mortons - by a bit of a margin over most else
I've had, but I've not been to the Palm - many reports in this area at
least consider Mortons to be superior - it was really the only
"surprise" rating on your list. Flemings is pretty down-rated around
these parts too.

In Nashville, we actually have an outback franchise that consistently
delivers considerably better steaks than anything Texas Roadhouse has
ever given me, but that chain (outback) can be maddeningly
inconsistent, so I'm not surprised to see it missing from your list.

Ruths Chris is way solid too - probably 2nd to Mortons in my ratings,
but I haven't been to nearly as many as you have.

Question - You've got Peter Lugers at 4th - I always heard these guys
were the end/all be/all of steaks - no, eh?
What do I get at the top end independents that I don't get at the
Mortons level?

(Just curious - I'd love to go to NYC and do a steakhouse run some
year....)

-m

ps: I've heard excellent things about Metropolitan Grill in Seattle -
any comments?
Whenever I'm in Seattle I'm thinking Flying Fish or Rays Boathouse
instead of steak, so I haven't been yet....
