been totally boarded up, or it is still there? I thought I had heard they
had done some renovations in that area, so maybe it's all closed up and
sealed off now.
At any rate, I was just wondering, cause I enjoyed that historical
perspective. | |

Not sure exactly what you are pointing at...but the Stillwell Avenue
NYCTA Subway terminal has undergone a complete renovation -- it is
still being finished. | |

Thanks for responding, Steve. Yes, as I recall, that was it. It used to
be pretty dingy in there, but when you were walking around in Coney Island,
you could walk over there into a pretty dingy area, and still see some
vestiges of what it looked like back in the 1930's (or whatever). It was
off the beaten path, for sure, and definitely not a tourist area, but it was
interesting to me. So if I read you right, that's all being redone, and
what's left of how it used to look (the old signs, gates, whatever) will
disappear. Or probably already has, at this point in time.

Yep, you described Stillwell Avenue. Theplace right across from
Nathan's...get off the train and smell the hot dogs!!
Presently, though, the "N" train (Sea Beach) is NOT running into
Stillwell, it is terminating at 86th Street until May of this year
from what I have heard. | |

So do you know which local walk in area (specifically) I was talking about
there, and has it been completely "eliminated" (as far as being able to see
any more vestiges of history in there)? It used to be a pretty
unsightly/seedy-like entrance way - sort of like a small hallway. It's hard
to describe - next to a bunch of those shops hawking their wares (like T
shirts or something, as I recall)
