Default Space Shuttle launch...Travel Question

Hi All,
My Son (19) and I are planning on traveling from NY down to Fla for the
May 31 launch of the space shuttle.

The Plan : We plan on leaving the Thursday before (if the launch sched.
has not changed) and driving straight through to Fla. If the launch goes
as planned we will watch the launch and then we have until the following
sunday to get back to NY.

My question is, what are some points of interest between Fla and NY. We
plan to meander back (no interstates if we can avoid it) and want to
stop along the way. We will be traveling in my van with an air matress
in the back and stopping at campgrounds or truck stops or whatever for
the nights.

We are interested in military type museums, factory tours, restored
homes/villages, Small towns and Cities.

thanks in advance for any tips.

Joe

Thanks for the sugesstions. i will reverse that route as the slow ride
will be on the way back. The way down will be the fast trip to get there
by the launch (unless the launch is resheduled while we are in route).

Thanks Again !
Joe
