When we opened the blinds on the back window of our 5er this morning we
discovered we had guests, four bats! We have a pull down see thru shade on
the outside of our back window and the bats have taken up residence hanging
upside down from the shade between it and the window. From the outside they
are almost invisible, but show up real well when looking out the window.

We have seen a few bats flying in the area about sundown, but have no idea
where they have been spending their days. There is lots of smoke in the air
and perhaps that has caused problems with the bats navigation system or the
fire SE of us may have caused them to move. It will be interesting to see
if they are roosting on our window shade again in the morning.

There are a number of locations in Florida, like Tampa and The Keys,
where they built major bat-houses (not to be confused with the Bat
Cave) in hopes of keeping large colonies of bats to deal with the
skeeters. Didn't work out like they hoped...

My older sister keeps telling me not to try and control the environment.

She's the one with sparrow problems though, not me.
