Default Airstream Safari cabinet / towing questions

Hullo,

While checking out a one-year old Airstream Safari Bambi 19' at a
dealer's lot, we noticed that every overhead cabinet door got stuck
when we tried to close it, requiring lots of pressure and jiggling.

Did this happen because the trailer was just out of level, or is it
more likely due to a less benign cause, like damage or poor
manufacture?

My wife once had a popup on which the doors/windows didn't work until
it was leveled, but we weren't sure if this applied to a vehicle as
rigid and heavy-duty as an Airstream.

Also, at the risk of starting a controversy, is a Jeep Liberty diesel a
plausible tow vehicle for a 19' Bambi? It's rated to tow 5000 pounds,
and the loaded Bambi is estimated at 4500. We are not offended by poor
acceleration.

Thanks for any input,
Jon

: Hi Jon,

: has all the qualifications that make it a terrible tow vehicle.

I would agree with this statement. I once had to tow a car on a trailer,
about 4700 lbs, with my Jeep Grand Cherokee. Luckily it wasn't very far, as
it was not an enjoyable experience at all.

Guy across the street has a 21' boat that is supposed to
weigh that much. I've towed it a couple of times with my Ram
and it doesn't feel light <g>. He has a friend with a
Liberty gas V6 and he has towed the boat with it. It's
sloooow going but they didn't express any fears about towing
with it. I wouldn't, for the reasons you give. Aren't the
new Bambi's a lot heavier than the old ones?
