DeLorme has really good help, especially if you use the search function. The
Help button on the top gives help on everything. The Help button on the
tabs, gives an overview of the tab you are on, most with links to specific
help for the tab. When you want to know something, go to the top help, click
on the search tab and enter a few words of what your looking for, (i.e.
"radar search" or "Finding POIs" or simply "searching") and it will return
topics containing the word(s). If you get to many, add another word, too
few, remove a word or use another, it's the quickest way to find stuff.
For what your looking for, enter "draw SA9", or "import SA9". The first one
will give you a topic that tells you how, the second one will also give you
this topic and a bunch of other ones, so you'll get a feel for it. All SA#
products files consist of whatever mapnotes and symbols you put in it and
your route. You can import routes in the route tab, and draw objects in the
draw tab from your SA9 and MnG files. As the maps are bound to be
different, it's possible the objects may need moved. Routes will definitely
need to be recalculated. You can also import any GPS tracks you've done and
turn them into draw objects, or play them back. There is lots you can do
with it.

Go to the Draw Tab
- click on the Select arrow
- click on file
- check the draw layer you want to copy object from and make sure it's
active
- to select all the objects in the draw layer, you can lasso them with the
select arrow
- to select specific ones, click on the first, then hold the shift key and
click on others
- Press <Ctrl-C> to copy them to the clipboard
- select the draw layer to copy them to, make it active and unlocked
- either click on the map (anywhere) or press <F12> to put the focus back on
the map
- Press <Ctrl-V> to past them into the draw layer you want them in.
If you don't know what's in a draw layer, if you double click on the file
and SA2004 will try to center all the objects in the screen. Using the
select arrow if you just drag over the whole map, it will select all of them
and may better help you locate the objects in the file as some can be very
small. It also selects the file, displays it, and makes it active.
Note that <F12> was added in SA2004 as a way to get focus off the tabs and
back onto the map, mainly for folks who use the keyboard shortcuts to pan
and zoom maps. They would have to use the mouse to click on the map to get
the focus back when they, or the system, changed tabs which would put the
focus on the tab instead of the map. Now you can use single keyboard
shortcuts to navigate the maps.

You can do this same process to all the other draw layers, and then remove
them from the mapfile or delete them.

| | Guest | Street Atlas 2004 (Merge Draw Layers) Your right Al. Speaking of not finding everything in the help, have you
figured out what exactly causes the square symbol and faint arrow within the
round GPS symbol that displays when you aren't moving fast enough for it to
turn into the direction of travel arrow?
I'm pretty sure the square is for a WAAS correction, and I think the arrow
is just showing the direction of movement, but it's not always there when
the dot is obviously moving, so there must be more to it.

| | Guest | Street Atlas 2004 (Merge Draw Layers) I sent an email to DeLorme about them both, we'll see what they say. Folks
have long been requesting in XMapHH and now SA2004HH, a way to tell the last
direction they were walking when the stopped, so they would know which way
to go when they started. I thought it might have something to do with that,
but in the desktop app. Unfortunately I can't find a patter to it,
sometimes it's there, most of the time it isn't. Maybe that's why they
didn't say anything about it, it isn't quite working yet.....
