You may be correct. Talked to a friend yesterday that is a caravan leader,
and he just returned from an Alaska Caravan. He said some of the roads were
worse this year than they were back in 1994, 95 and 96 when they were
re-routing major portions of the road. That, said, we plan to go to Alaska
again next year, but we do bad roads every year, and this year was Mexico! ;-(

The most bears we ever saw at one time was north of Hyder where the creek
crosses the mining road just before it starts up the mountain. They were
salmon fishing and we lost count after 10 or 12 jumped in, caught a fish and
retreated back into the woods.

We will decide in the next 30 days whether we are going for sure again next
year.

Some of the RV road service insurers do cover Canada and Alaska. I had
problems about half way between Dawson City and the Artic Circle and they came
to the rescue. A couple I was camping next to called their road service when
they broke down 25 miles from Valdez and they got service. Both of us had RRR
at the time, which is now Camping World Towing service.

We would never travel without a fresh copy of Milepost, even if traveling in a
caravan.
