Weather "Sticker" Services Ending Soon for External Websites The information below was sent to e-mail addresses given to us by webmaster using our weather stickers on their site. We have extended the cutoff date several times and have attempted to contact webmasters directly on their sites if they did not submit to us a proper e-mail address....

For many years, it has been our pleasure to provide free weather information to websites worldwide. However, the server on which the weather "stickers" are generated is beginning to fail. It is our oldest server dating back to at least the year 2001. We could replace it with a new server, but our hosting company no longer supports the older software used to provide that information and the programmer who created the software attachment is no longer in the business. Therefore, we have no choice but to shut down the "weather for your website" service.
Accordingly, we have begun moving all our other files/programs off the failing service before it totally fails. We plan to shut that server down from May 16, 2006 or shortly thereafter.
We suggest that the best thing for you to do is to simply remove the code from your HTML pages and then replace it with a similar program that you can easily find by searching Google for "weather for your website."
We wish you continued success on the Internet.
Sincerely,
Rik Brown
ps: You will notice that we will still have weather services on our website run from a new server (weather.travel.com). Its just the ability to serve up weather via a "sticker" to other sites that is affected as that was written by a 3rd-party programmer. We hope in the future to have this service back but it may be months before that is possible. UPDATE 05-17-06
As of this afternoon, we have turned off the javascript file that served up weather information. It should simply not show up on your website. We expect to totally shut down this server in the next few days due to failing equipment.
