No matter what anyone says, remember to check schedules so you can pick
the best option.

One option is to take the NY Subway's E Train to Pennsylvania Station,
and then take Amtrak down to Philadelphia. I don't know the best way to
Cherry Hill from there, but the Atlantic City NJTransit line is the only
rail option to Cherry Hill.

A bus may be more practical by the time you get to Philly, since it
would likely be well into the evening if you leave JFK at 4pm.

My guesstimate on time:
- 15 minutes from your terminal to Jamaica, Queens
- 1hr to 34th Street, where you transfer to/at Penn Station
- 2-3 hours to get to 30th Street in Philadelphia from Pennsylvania
Station in New York, at least given wait times if money is no object
(there are a few hourly trains to Philly until mid-evening)
- I'm guessing at least an hour to Cherry Hilly from there, given wait times

Alternative: instead of E Train, take Long Island Rail Road to Penn
Station. More expensive, but faster and probably less of a hassle, at
least if the schedule works out.

New York JFK to Philadelphia International is a 90 minute flight,
nonstop, and costs about $277 according to Expedia. For example leave
5:20pm arrive 6:54pm. If you want to make it interesting, take the
4:10pm Delta departure, change at Detroit, arriving Philadelphia
10:52pm, or 6 hours 42 minutes later. Why do they even list this
routing?

It's interesting that the fastest scheduled flight time available is 1
hour 19 minutes, a little slower than Amtrak Acela's usual 1 hour 10
minutes from New York Penn to Philadelphia 30th St. This is why these
shorter hops in Europe are usually done by train, trains that actually
run to the airports to make air connections. But I digress.

But seriously. For rail routing, I would say NJ Transit from NY Penn
to Trenton, and River Line from Trenton to some station north of
Camden, like Pennsauken. New York to Pennsauken would be between 2
hours and 2 hours 20 minutes depending on how good a connection you
get at Trenton. That beats going to Philadelphia and coming back
out. It's cheaper too.
