I read about it on nyc.transit.
Apparently there was a station that either opened up, but closed a few days
later or it was projected and half built. I'm not sure what the situation is
with that. | |

Ah -- but you'll note it appears on Mr Hagstrom's maps of the era.
Are you implying that appearance on a Hagstrom maps "keeps it a secret" ???

LOL, if it was the "Hagstrom" map on Brennan's April 1 page, it was
very obviously photoshopped. Load it in to Photoshop or your favorite
image editor and inspect the pixels. :)

I would think, with today's technology, and I'm certainly no expert
here, you could scan the underground of where that station is reported
to be and at least tell if there were any large open spaces in that
region. I know they talk about using radar or sonar or something like
that for finding uncharted water mains and such.

You could make yourself rich!
Go to the NYPL or the Brooklyn Public Library, and take a look at the
Hagstrom map of the era -- and then sell the information that Photoshop
actually existed in 1948! That will be remarkable information, to be sure --
and that Photoshop was kept even a better secret than the station all those
yers is pretty remarkable.
Tell you what, for $399 (Pay Pal accepted) -- I'll sell you the original
map, and save you a trip to the library. Maybe the CIA will want to know how
to keep software secret for so many years <g>.

What I was referring to was the map on Brennan's page, and a very
convincing de-bunk which was posted shortly after it came out that
showed the "new" station was a cut-paste job.
Somebody also posted the original photo that was photoshopped to make
the A train photo that appeared on Brennan's page as well. That one
was from the nycsubway site.
No, I'm not curious enough to go through the thousands of photos to
find it. :) | |

| I remember hearing something about the Phantom Station... I donno about civilians having access to any kind of tech that would be able to scan the underground though... I donno that's just me. |
