Someone on another forum called them the "R160-C". Time for a little
more originality.

They have these magic route maps that show the next dozen stations and
update at every stop. Would be nice to see them everywhere ...

I prefer the older diagrams. Though I guess this makes it easier to
move equipment across different routes.

I rode N's twice in recent weeks (which is two more times than in the
past ten years together) and noticed that it accommodated to a
nonstandard service pattern without a hitch -- the N ran local all the
way up from Canal. When the 4-5 runs local, with the old-fashioned
electronic sign, the best it can do is leave the "86" or "125" dot lit
until we get there. (Although the magic voices do know about the local
stops.) | |

It's not called the Garden State for nothing. Highest per capita
income state in the country. (Yes, higher even than Connecticut.)

I guess it would be too expensive to expect LCD screens that can
accommodate the old diagrams digitally. Of course, they could be used
for flashier advertising.

I thought they picked "Garden State" because "Festering Dumping Ground
For Industrial Waste and Petrochemicals" was too long to fit on the
license plate. :-p | |

The PATH TVs work almost all the time, but they almost never show any
useful information. | |

Once in a while. Certainly not several times before each train
arrives. (And those messages seem to relate to printed schedules
rather than to running trains, since sometimes they announce that the
train that just left will soon be here.)
PTD (has never ever rode the PATH before 2004)
