Default new subway maps book

A friend with whom I exchange Hanukkah presents sent me *Transit Maps
of the World: The World's First Collection of Every Urban Train Map on
Earth*, by Mark Ovenden and three editors; originally 2003 in England,
2nd rev. ed. Penguin, 2007.

It's organized into six "zones" based on how much historic material is
available, with the oldest systems (Berlin, Chicago, London, Madrid,
Moscow, New York, Paris, Tokyo) getting four pages each, on down to an
Appendix of planned systems around the world for which maps have been
published.

Most of the maps are reproduced too small to read, though.

nyc.transit readers might like to know that a map proposal by Joe
Brennan is shown in the New York section.
