Well, there certainly was in 1964-65!
And when a game ended at the same time the World's Fair closed (10
pm), it could get a little crowded.
After 9, you could get on the big rides -- Ford, GM, Bell System --

stuck in my head.
I didn't go to my first Mets game until 1967.

Mine was 1962 -- a double-header against St. Louis. The only time we
won both ends that entire first season. (Yes, in the olden days,
double-headers were a regular part of the schedule, and in the
daytime, too.)
It was the first time I ever took the D train beyond 145th St. -- we
had to take the A down to 145th, and change to the uptown train one
stop to the Polo Grounds station.
My only baseball game at Shea was in 1970, but I'd been there a couple
of weeks earlier to see Billy Graham. | |
