Default Need Help Getting From NJ To NYC

Hello,

I hope I've found the right place here... I need some help getting from
NJ to NYC.

I just got a new job in the financial district (in the Trinity Building
to be exact), and while I'm really happy that they hired me, we're
going to "test" things on both ends and see how it goes. My biggest
concerns are commuting and taxes.

The last time I went into the city it took me far too long and was very
confusing. I was told of an easier way but I wanted to find a real
life person to ask about it.

I would take a NJ transit "express" train from Glen Rock, NJ (either
the main line or boro hall) to Hoboken -- question here is... do I need
to switch trains in Secaucus? Or does it go straight to Hoboken?
(When I take the Glen Rock main line to Penn Station I have to switch
off in Secaucus.) And then from Hoboken I take the path to the WTC
station or WFC station. Is this correct?

Thanks in advance for any help.

~Aimee

You are correct. The train goes direct to Hoboken, and PATH to WTC is the best way to get to the Trinity Building. The Boro hall trains are faster. One takes only 32 minutes to Hoboken. Then 5 minutes to transfer, 12 minutes for PATH and 5
minutes walk on the other end and under perfect conditions you can do this in under an hour from the Boro Hall station. Unfortunately, it won't always be perfect.

Hi Larry,

Wow, thanks. I'm so happy to have received such a helpful response so
quickly.

I'll take the boro hall train tomorrow instead of the main line and go
straight to Hoboken. Someone told me that there is an "express" train?
I was trying to find the departure times for an express train but
haven't succeeded so far.

Then I'll take the PATH from Hoboken to WTC. Is it confusing
transferring trains here? I've been trying to find a map and such so
that I know EXACTLY where to go, etc. I got lost in the subway system
going in circles and I don't want to repeat that.

Thanks again for your reply!

Default Need Help Getting From NJ To NYC

Hi Michael,

Thanks for the reply! Yeah, it was $11 round trip from Glen Rock to
the Secaucus station to Penn Station, then $4 round trip for the
subways... $15 a day is pretty expensive. So hopefully this alternate
route will not only be faster but cheaper. Thanks a lot for the
suggestions and advice.

Can you point me in the direction of any train schedules or station
maps?

Thanks again.

~Aimee

A 40-trip ticket costs no less than a 20-trip ticket; it just ties up
twice as much capital in PATH's hands instead of yours.
