Paterson - New York Bus

'Am I correct in remembering a #40 Inter-City along Route 4 to the 168th
Street terminal and when did Inter-City go out of business?

I rode it sometimes. Nice brown old GMs. Later, into the bridge bus
station, but I half-recall 168th St too. Out Route 4, then through
Fair Lawn on Plaza Road and Fairlawn (sic) Ave, and on into Paterson
and some streets to City Hall.

Also a #41 out Route 4, up Saddle River Road in Fair Lawn into Glen
Rock and Ridgewood.

I remember they had only an interstate franchise and could
only carry passengers to or from New York.

Beats me. Do you recall that the name of the company was actually
Maplewood Equipment Company? Why, I never knew.

Intercity was a separate company that went under or was bought out by
either Public Service Coordinated Transport (headquartered in
Maplewood, New Jersey) or New Jersey Transit if PSCT had already sold
out to NJT. Maplewood Equipment Company was a subsidiary of one of
them.
