Default Historical questoin: commuting in the 1930's

My father is doing some historical research about Mount Vernon and is
trying to find out what a commuter ticket cost in the '30's. The
Transit Museum doesn't have anything in its archive that will help.
Anyone know of another resource?

There is (or was) a small display on the top (food court/FAO Schwarz)
level at Westchester Mall [I think that's what it's called] in White
Plains on the commuter lines/interurbans that used to run through the
Bronx to a subway transfer near Yankee Stadium, and it was sponsored by
a local railfan club. That's who might have such information.

The New York Westchester and Boston fare was 17 cents from its several Mt.
Verson stations -- 30 cents round trip. Ad a nickel for the Second or Third
Ave El for downtown.

Cheers,
Jim Guthrie
